FAQ

WHAT KIND OF MAKE-UP DO YOU USE?
I use products from different brands including MAC, Chanel, Bobbi Brown and Graftobian. I am always researching and trying out new products and will only use products that I have tested and believe to be the best.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE?
While each situation is different and timing also depends on each client’s individual needs, a general guideline will be:

Wedding:
Bridal Trial 3 hours
Bride H&M 2 ½ hours
Bride Hair only 1 ½ hours
Bride Make-up only 1 hour
Bridal Party H&M 1 ½ hours
Bridal Party Hair only 45 min
Bridal Party Make-up only 45 min
Special Events:
Hair & Make-up 2 hours
Make-up 1 hour
Hair 1 hour

WHEN SHOULD I WASH MY HAIR?
If you wash your hair every day, go ahead.
If you would like to wear your hair down,  on the day I will start with damp freshly washed hair.
If you have curly hair, I find the best results are normally found when working with hair that has completely dried naturally(which would probably mean washed the day before).

If you would like to wear an up-style I will start working with completely dry hair, but I don’t mind if it is washed on the morning or day before. I know it is normally recommended for an up-style to have slightly dirty hair, but I feel that hair products can also be used to add a bit of texture if needed.

Saying this, you know your hair best and I will be able to give better advice after the trial (for the trial clean dry hair is perfect).

WHERE WILL THE TRIAL TAKE PLACE?
I live in Oranjezicht, Cape Town and have a little space specifically kitted for Hair and Make-up trials, but I also don’t mind traveling if you prefer to do it at you home or any other space. Travel within 60km from Cape Town will be at no additional cost.

WHEN MUST WE DO THE TRIAL?
I normally recommend about a month prior to the wedding date. At this stage the dress is normally almost ready and it is easier to have a full picture of the look you would like to go for. Also once you start planning a wedding there are normally quite a few ideas and looks that you like, but by a month before, you would probably have narrowed things down considerably.
While I will definitely offer advice and tailor make a look to suit you, at the end of the day my philosophy is that it is your day and I am only there to bring out the best version of you.

If you are making the booking quite far in advance and maybe require some peace of mind we can meet for a coffee and discuss your ideas at any stage.

And if you feel you know exactly what you would like and this will probably not change, we can do the trial at any time.

WHEN ARE YOU AVAILABLE TO DO TRIALS?
I am available Monday to Friday 8am-12pm or after 5pm. I am also available on Sundays and then Saturdays during the months of May until August. Saturdays from September until April are set aside for wedding dates, but upon special request I will do my best to accommodate you.

WHEN SHOULD I HAVE HIGH LIGHTS DONE OR MY HAIR CUT?
I would recommend highlights a week or 2 prior to the wedding day and hair cut about 3 weeks before.

ARE EYELASH EXTENSIONS A GOOD IDEA?
I think eyelash extensions can definitely add a bit of extra vavavoom, and they are especially great if you are heading off on honeymoon straight after the wedding day.

If you prefer to keep things a bit more natural, I love adding just a few single lashes to the outer corners of the eye. They add extra glamour, but are hardly noticeable. I can apply these at the trial and then on the wedding day and they are easily removed with eye make-up remover.

WHAT DO I NEED FOR TOUCH UPS?
For an additional R200 I will provide a lipstick or gloss matching the color used at the trial.
I also recommend a pressed powder or blotting paper to control shine.
